Trip Duration: 20 Days Group Size: 1 - 15 people Destination: Nepal Specialty Categories: Mountain/Rock Climbing
Hiking & Trekking Season: March - November Airfare Included: No Tour Customizable: Yes
Dhampus Peak lies North-East of the big Dhaulagiri
massif. It is in terms of climbing technicalities an
easy mountain to ascent. The overwhelming altitude
differences between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges
make Dhampus Peak a very exposed spot to observe the
scenery from. Having Tukuche Peak (6920m) and Dhaulagiri
(8167m) spectacularly near you enjoy the feeling of
being part of the extreme altitudes of the Himalayas.
The biggest mountain range in the world with
uninterrupted heights between seven and eight thousand
meters, containing Annapurna -1, 2, 3 & 4, Annapurna-South,
The Nilgiris and Tilicho Peak tower above the horizon in
the South.
The 3500 meter ascent from Tukuche, where our climb
starts, makes you feel having gone really high. The
normal route to Dhampus Peak follows the west-ridge,
which connects Dhampus Pass(5200m), where our highest
camp is placed, with the summit. For acclimatized people
we have a 6-day schedule starting from the High Plains
Inn in Tukuche. For unacclimatized individuals we offer
various acclimatization programs, which each take an
additional 4 days. An ideal combination is the trek over
the 5400 meter high Thorung Pass. This expedition exceeds
the 6000 meter frontier, no technical climbing skills
are required. The use of crampons depends on snow
conditions. This means any experience in walking on
snow/ice is advisable.

In addition to the above list of suggested
trekking equipment, you should take along with
various items of mountaineering tools. For any
trip which has crossed by steep, snow-covered
ground, or which has included section of glacier
travel, it might be necessary for the group
roping up as a safety precaution. To facilitate
this process of roping up, you will need to
maintain a minimum requirement, a climbing
harness, a climbing sling and two locking
carabineers. Plastic mountaineering boots, a
mountaineering ice axe and a pair of crampons
with front points are the other items of
equipment, which are required for our trekking
peak trips. (Please note: Our recommendation
that you take no more than 33 pounds of trekking
equipment DOES NOT include your plastic boots,
ice axe, crampons or harness/carabineers. During
the trek, climbing hardware will be carried
separately from your personal trek bag in-group
bags until needed).
An explanation of the equipment that you will
need
Day packs for climbing trips
3000-4000 cubic inches. For climbing trips, you
will be required to carry more warm clothing
during the climbs and also your personal
climbing gear. For this reason, you will need a
slightly bigger daypack than for a trekking-only
trip. If you have any questions about gear,
please do not hesitate to call our office for
advice.

trekking and climbing equipment you may never
