Dhaulagiri (Kaphe glacier / Chure himal base camp) - 22 days

Click Here for Enlarged Dhaulagiri MapMount Dhaulagiri (8137m), the seventh highest peak in the world rises above the Kali Gandaki River, which flows between the Annapurna Massif and this tremendous peak. The trekking to Dhaulagiri region is rewarded with spectacular views of both majestic Himalayan peaks and White Water Rivers. The local ethnic minorities such as Magars, Thakalis and Gurungs still love to be in convention and speak their own language. Dhaulagiri (White Mountain), separated from the Annapurna region by Kali Gandaki Gorge (deepest in the world) includes some fifteen peaks above 7000m. This is a challenging trek, which will reward you with the opportunity to camp on a glacier. Magdi Glacier, Dhaulagiri Base camp (4750m), French Pass (5360m) (highest point of the trek) including the several peaks such as Putali Himal and Tukuche Peak gives you an excellent view of Dhaulagiri range. A hidden snow valley (after crossing French pass) gives you a heavenly test of white world. The Dhampus Pass between Tukuche peak and Thapa peak is another heaven in the trip.

Weather conditions and the health of trekkers can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.

Experience Required :This Trek is suitable for keen walkers who are able to walk for 6 – 7 hours in a day, with a light rucksack. Some of the days are quite long, and the walking feels more strenuous at altitude. Generally the trail is a good track, but occasionally it will be uneven and rocky.

Food & Accommodation : You are accommodated in teahouses whilst on trek. A teahouse is a local run guesthouse, but standards vary enormously. In popular areas such as Everest, teahouses are more like hotels, with hot water, Western food and private rooms

Footwear : Well broken-in walking shoes - these must be suitable for snow, thick socks, light socks, camp shoes.

Clothing : Down or fiber filled waterproof jacket and trousers, sweater or fleece jacket, underwear, warm and cotton trousers or jeans, shirts and T-shirts, shorts, long underwear, wool hat, sun hat, gloves, bathing suit, track suit.
