2017 became the closest year of achieving the glorious target of welcoming one million tourist to Nepal. Even so, the arrival of 940,000 tourist in Nepal is a new record for the number of tourist visiting the Himalayan country. We also saw a significant rise in number of tourist compared to last year where we welcomed 729,550 visitors.
It is also presumed that in 2017 the number of tourist may have crossed 1 million mark if we count the number of Indian tourist entering Nepal through land route.
Rise in number of tourism has helped the economy as many more employment opportunity has been generated in tourism sector. Hotels are seen higher occupancy rate, while many new hotels and restaurant are being opening to cater the growing need. Since trekking the number one tourist activity in Nepal, more employment for Guides and Porters are also being generated. 2017 has been very productive for Langtang Ri as well, as we have seen an increase in clients compared to previous years, many compared to after the Earthquake, where the tourism sector was hit hard.
We hope 2018 will be an even more fruitful year and we will see the fulfilment of the long awaited dream of welcoming 1 million visitors in our beautiful country of Nepal.
