Charity Event Hosted By Langtang Ri Trekking and Expedition
Wednesday, March 21st:
Just 15 Km far from Kathmandu valley lies a small village named “Kagatigaun”. The village has the majority of the people belonging to “Balami” caste. The village still has social issues like blind faith, superstition and child marriage. These villagers have also been facing poverty for a long time now and we still are failing to uplift them from such misery.
Today langtang Ri along with Elsevier SEA REcares Overseas Outreach, Singapore held a charity program in the village as a small step to help them rise. We distributed rations (Food Supplies: Rice, Lentil, Sugar, Oil and salt) to One Hundred widowed women in the village.
We did not have any problem during the distribution. In fact it was smooth. The villagers came up with a token system, which was a great management approach. They came up one by one holding the token and others patiently waited for their turn. There were no riot act. We were really happy to see that quality in the villagers.
The only school of the village “Buddha Jyoti Baludhyan Lower Secondary School” with 250 students were lacking storage and reading materials. Thus, we decided to provide them with some Books, Cupboards and a printer. The immense happiness in their faces made our day successful. We even spent our night at the school.
