High Altitude First Aid Training 2019
The High Altitude First Aid Training compliments the Emergency Outdoor First Aid course for those travelling to higher altitudes. Held from 26th to 28th January 2019 at Langtang Ri Trekking and Expeditions, addressed topic learning and practical demonstration with the Portable Altitude Chamber (PAC).
The course was conducted by the specialists from HRA (Himalayan Rescue Association). It is a specialist course designed for anyone who plans to go to altitude and may encounter Acute Mountain Sickness and other, more dangerous, associated altitude related issues.
The course included:
- Preparation for Altitude
- Forms of High Altitude Sickness
- AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) Signs and Symptoms
- High Altitude Pulmonary Oedema (HAPE)
- High Altitude Cerebral Oedema (HACE)
- Frost Bites
- Snow Blindness
- Use of Associated Drugs
- Mountain hazards
- Familiarization and Use of Portable Altitude Chamber (PAC) or Hyperbaric Chamber
There can be multiple factors that may be a threat to your life while in the mountains. And during this training session the staff of Langtang Ri have equipped themselves with a new gear that will help them travel to altitude with recognition and treatment of all the major altitude illness.
