Nepal is the country surrounded by the most beautiful mountain regions in the world. Besides Mount Everest (The Highest Point on Earth) there are many more peaks that stand here, one of them being the Langtang region. Langtang is located at the north of Kathmandu valley (28.250oN 85.500oE). The Langtang region is a part of the Himalayas which borders the Tibet. The region comprises of 13 massive peaks ranging from 5000 m – 7000 m.

The Langtang National Park is also located in this region. Established in 1976 the Langtang National Park is the first Himalayan National Park of Nepal. The park covers an astounding area of 1,710 km2, with the altitudinal coverage of 6,450 m. About 25% of the park is covered with dense forests. Trees like deciduous Oak, Maple, Pine and different types of Rhododendron grow here. These forests have inhabited animals like Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan Tahr, Rhesus Monkeys and Red Pandas. The Gosainkunda Lake (4,300m), lies within the Langtang National park. It is one of the high altitude lakes of Nepal as well as a sacred lake for Hindus. The Buddhist monastery of Kyanjin Gompa is the other spiritual site located here.
