Successful Mount Manaslu Expedition – Nepal
Langtang Ri Expedition Climbs Mount Manaslu
Once again Langtang Ri Trekking and Expedition can announce the successful completion of an expedition to the summit of an 8,000m Himalayan summit – this time our clients summited Mount Manaslu. The “Three Clear Skies Manalsu Expedition 2013” comprised five very experienced adventurers and climbers from Austria.
They arrived in Kathmandu on September 25th and following completion of preparations departed for the trek to Mount Manaslu Base Camp on September 30th. By October 3rd three of the team, led by Mt Hannes Grobner, were standing on the 8,156m summit of the eight highest mountains in the world. The summit attempt commenced at 4:00am that morning as the weather forecast for the day was good and every moment of daylight would be required. They reached the summit by 3:00pm that afternoon but could only spend 30 minutes celebrating their achievement and admiring the view before they had to descent, making it safely back to Camp 3 that evening. The achievement was made even more remarkable by the fact that none of the climbers required supplementary oxygen to complete the feat.
Unfortunately for the other two members of the expedition the weather changed for the worse the next day and they did not have the opportunity to make a push for the summit. We are glad to report all team members returned safely to Kathmandu on October 10th without incident.
