This introduction to the jungle lowlands and snow-capped Himalayan peaks of Nepal is part tour and part trek. It is the perfect family travel package that can be enjoyed by every member of the family with ease. The experience is designed to delight every member of the family from ages of about 10 years and above. You get the opportunity to see the wildlife of Chitwan National Park up close and even from the back of an elephant! Glide through the waterways of the park and see crocodiles and an abundance of bird life. Then look for one-horned rhino and even tiger on an elephant safari.

Then zip across to the stunningly gorgeous Annapurna Sanctuary near Pokhara and complete and easy day trek into the Himalayan foothills at Dhampus. From there you will enjoy the most amazing views of dozens of Himalayan peaks as the sun sets at the end of your day’s walk. Then rise early the next morning for an even more stunning sunrise show over Mount Machhapuchare – also know locally as Mount Fish Tail – and dozen of other snow-capped peaks.

A quick flight will deliver you back to Kathmandu from where you can experience the stunning Mount Everest region scenery from the comfort of an early morning scenic flight. The views across the plains of India and the towering jagged peaks of the main Himalayan range will stay with you for ever. In just eight days you can explore and experience many of the scenic wonders of Nepal.

    Final Day and Departure for Home (1,300m)
  • Day 1
    Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel (1,300m)

    We will meet you at Kathmandu airport and transfer you directly to your hotel. Once check-in is completed and you are all organized we will collect you from the hotel lobby and drive you to our office in busy Thamel. Here you will be introduced to your guide who will escort your on your tour and trek. At this time we will also arrange any final details you may request and obtain the necessary national park and trekking permits. We suggest you use the remainder of the day to take a look around Thamel and its many bustling lane ways and shops.

  • Day 2
    Drive from Kathmandu – River Rafting and then continue on to Chitwan National Park (1,300m)

     The initial part of today’s drive will take you a few hours west of Kathmandu to the Trisuli River. This is one of the best rivers in Nepal to experience white water rafting. Today you will enjoy a section of river that will give you all the thrills of rafting but on a softer section of river best suited to families and a compact few hours on the river. After your rafting experience and everyone has dried off you will continue south-west to the beautiful Chitwan National Park – a Nepal lowlands national park renowned for its wildlife diversity.

  • Day 3
    Drive from Chitwan to Pokhara (900m)

     This morning you will have the opportunity to explore parts of the Chitwan National Park – perhaps you might choose the elephant ride safari option to seek-out the one-horned rhino or perhaps even glimps an elusive tiger in the jungle. Following your safari you will drive a few hours north-westwards to Pokhara. This is a great resort town located on the beautiful Lake Fewa – you make choose to enjoy a leisurly sundown boat ride on the lake.

  • Day 4
    Easy part-day trek to Dhumpus (950m)

    You will start today early with the short drive from Pokhara to the southern entrance to the Annapura Sanctuary. From here you will enjoy an easy walk along wonderful trails that reward you with spectacular views of the many snow-capped peaks of the huge Annapurna Massif. The most spectacular mountain that will capture your attention again and again today is the sacred Mount Machhapuchhare – this mountain holds very special meaning to the local Nepali people and so it has never been climbed to its summit and climbing its slopes is no longer permitted. However, you are free to take in its spectacular view. Make sure you find a good vantage point when you reach Dhampus to watch the sun set behind Mount Machhapuchhare. Enjoy your afternoon in Dhampus experiencing a little of the local culture and enjoying the inspiring Himalayan mountain vista.

  • Day 5
    Return Trek then drive back to Pokhara (900m)

    This morning you will re-trace your steps on the easy descent from Dhampus back you your vehicle ready to take to on to Pokhara. You will still have time to utilise this afternoon in Pokhara – perhaps you might like to book a paragliding flight to get an eagle’s eye view of the Annapurna mountains. Or perhaps you might like to go boating on the lake or even go zip-lining down a mountain side. You guide can organise these optional extras for you.

  • Day 6
    Transfer from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,300m)

    Many people choose to enjoy the sights and experiences of the drive from Pokhara back to Kathmandu – usually a 6 to 7 hour drive. However, as an optional extra to your itinerary you may also choose to transfer vis a quick 30 minute flight back to Kathmandu. This is one of the optional details we will discuss with you on Day 1 in our Thamel office to ensure your itinerary and travel arrangements meet your needs.

  • Day 7
    Early morning mountain flight along the Himalaya Mountains to view Mount Everest. Plus Kathmandu region sightseeing. (1,300m)

    This morning comprises yet another highlight of your Nepal experience. We will collect you bright and early from your hotel and take you to the Kathmandu Domestic Airport to board your Mount Everest Flight. This is about a one hour flight that takes you eastward along the southern slopes of the Himalaya Mountains to the Sagarmatha National Park region. Here you will enjoy spectacular views of Mount Everest itself plus the countless other 6,000m, 7,000m and 8,000m peaks in the national park and all along the Tibet-Nepal border. Once you have enjoyed the spectacular Mount Everest views your aircraft will turn westward and head back to Kathmandu – but keep your nose and camera pressed to the window as the mountain scenery is wonderful all the way back to Kathmandu. You should arrive back at the airport by mid-morning where your vehicle and guise will be waiting for you.

    You may then choose to use the remainder of the day touring the temples and cultural highlights of Kathmandu or even nearby Bhakatpur. No introduction to the rich culture of Nepal and Kathmandu would be complete without a visit to the Monkey temple Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. You should also make some time available later today for some exotic gift shopping in Thamel. The final experience today will be a farewell dinner. We will collect you from your hotel and take you to one of Kathmandu’s wonderful and colorful restaurants where you can celebrate your week’s experiences and highlights with your guide and Kathmandu team.

     

  • Day 8
    Final Day and Departure for Home (1,300m)

    It has been a very busy week, but now time to return home. We will collect you from your hotel and get you to the Kathmandu Airport in good time before your flight’s departure. We hope you will spend some time on your flight thinking about and planning your next Nepal experience – how about trekking to Mount Everest or Annapurna Base Camp next time. Just a thought!

Footwear : Well broken-in walking shoes - these must be suitable for snow, thick socks, light socks, camp shoes.

Clothing : Down or fiber filled waterproof jacket and trousers, sweater or fleece jacket, underwear, warm and cotton trousers or jeans, shirts and T-shirts, shorts, long underwear, wool hat, sun hat, gloves, bathing suit, track suit.

 

Other equipment: Sleeping bag (5 seasons),  lock, day pack, water bottle, sun cream, sunglasses, flashlight with spare bulbs and batteries, lip salve, gaiters.

 

Other items: Insect repellent, toilet articles, diary, toilet roll, laundry soap, wet ones, pocket knife, towel, sewing kit, plasters, binoculars, camera, film, cards and personal medical kit.
